Marleine Reader Harris Media Center

The Marleine Reader Harris Media Center at Mars Hill College is one of the first sustainable institutional buildings in the southeast. The facility contains exhibit space, media storage and conservation space, theater, meeting rooms, graphic design rooms, as well as dark rooms, a TV studio and sound recording studio.

The building has many passive and active solar design features including earth sheltering, an intensive sod roof, natural ventilation and a south facing trombe wall collecting heat for radiant heat, hot water heating and seasonal heated air redistribution through the building duct system.

From the personal experience of Robert M. Cain, PD, PA, PM, 6 Associates Inc. architect of record.
