Interior modifications for an artist and attorney to their three-story 1994 Post Modern style home. The home is in a vibrant in-town Atlanta neighborhood and has been the couple's primary residence for over two decades.

 

The owners’ primary goals were increasing kitchen function, enhancing circulation, introducing more natural light, expanding visual linkages between the kitchen, living room and dining room, as well as providing additional opportunities for the exhibition of their delightfully eclectic art collection.

 

The kitchen was substantially enlarged by eliminating a small breakfast nook and a hallway as well as various walls and upper cabinets. The new plan dramatically increases counter space and allows for a significantly larger island with bar seating, a second work sink, drawers for storage, base cabinets and an oven. Other features include a walk-in pantry and a more private entrance to a reconfigured half bath. An expansive window with operable casements, introduced above the new primary kitchen work counter, becomes the organizing element of the design, floods the newly connected spaces with natural light and, by creating new views of the site’s lush landscape, effectively expands the size of both the kitchen and living room.

 

Additional renovations include modifications to the master bath, guest bath, media room, office, and loft.
