Mill 1

Habersham Mill, located in Habersham County in northeast Georgia between Clarkesville and Demorest, is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and sits on the banks of the beautiful Soque River along a spectacular 40’ drop in river elevation. Water powered mills began operation on the site in the early 1800's. An iron works began operation in 1838 and produced cannons during the Civil War. After the war the mill converted to textiles until closure in 1999.

RMCA's Master Plan proposes the creation of a unique mixed-use community to be accomplished by restoring and expanding the once-thriving mill town. Through the act of its re-creation we plan to establish an enduring community founded on a broader and deeper scope of sustainable economic and creative prospects.
